Vision & Goal

통합적이고 중장기적인 시각에서의 디자인 이념과 가치, 그리고 전략 구축에 필요한 다양한 디자인 지식기반을 조성함으로써, 디자인을 통한 산업활성화, 새로운 디자인 패러다임의 전개, 그리고 아시아 디자인의 관문역할을 통하여 21세기 세계 디자인산업 주도에 기여한다.

KFDRI fosters a variety of design knowledge foundations necessary for establishing comprehensive and mid-and-long term design ideologies, values, and strategies.

Approaches

동양과 서양, 과거/현재/미래, 그리고 인간/생활/환경의 균형적 발전에 기여할 수 있는 디자인의 ‘조화로운 이념’을 창출하기 위하여, 신지식연구와 정보 및 재교육을 횡적으로 연결하는 ‘통합적 연구활동’을 지향하며, 다학제, 산학연, 국제간의 유연하고 세계적인 ‘디자인 연구 네트워크 조직’을 구축한다.

KFDRI creates a “harmonious ideology” for design that can contribute to the balanced development of human existence, based on the past, present, and future environments in both the Western and Eastern hemispheres.

Research

시대를 선도하는 디자인 이념과 조형 창출을 위하여 동양적인 조화와 통합의 관점에서, 문화에 기초한 디자인 가치와 전략수립의 지식기반을 구축하고, 산/학/연/관과의 밀접한 연계를 통해 축적된 지식의 사회 확산에 필요한 다양한 연구를 수행한다.

With a view to advancing design ideas and formative creation from the perspective of oriental harmony and integration, KFDRI establishes culturebased design values and knowledge bases for strategic development. Also, KFDRI engages in a range of researches required to disseminate its accumulated knowledge throughout the society via close connections with industries, academia, institutes and authorities.

IDCC International Design Culture Conference

디자인 문화 시대를 위해 문화의 관점에서 디자인을 다각도로 조망하고 새로운 비전을 제시하기 위한 디자인 문화탐색의 국제적인 대화의 장이다.

IDCC is an international communication channel for exploring design culture, where they view design from various angles of cultural perspectives in favor of the era of design culture to present a new vision.

Design Creation Workshop

각 분야에서 선도적 위치에 있는 디자이너를 모시고 새로운 디자인 프로레스, 방법 등을 적용하여 서로 다른 분야의 실무 디자이너들이 한자리에 모여 새로운 발상의 전환을 위해 토론과 교육을 함께 하는 프로그램이다.

Design Creation Workshop is an educational program where leading designers from different fields gather to apply and discuss new design processes and methods with a view to paradigm shifts.

Design Talk

국내외 유수 대학, 디자인 기업 및 유명 디자이너를 초청하여 디자인 성공사례 및 디자인 관련 분야의 최우수 정보들을 국내 디자이너와 디자인 학도들에게 전파하는 교육 프로그램이다.

Design Talk is an educational program organized to provide local designers and design majors with the best information about design-related fields and success stories by inviting professors from local and overseas leading universities, professional designers from design companies and renowned designers.

Publication

출판사업은 KFDRI에서 진행되는 연구지식을 보다 널리 확산하고 공유하기 위해 책자로 제작하여 기업, 교육기관, 연구소 등에 보급한다. 각 랩의 연구 결과, 그리고 아시아 문화와 이념을 다룬 Asia Design Journal, 컨퍼런스, 워크샵 혹은 세미나를 통해 발굴된 연구내용의 출판을 진행한다.

KFDRI’s publishing projects are to disseminate and share research knowledge more extensively in the form of books for companies, educational institutions and research institutes.
